Growing Herbs Indoors: In a south-facing windowsill, in small pots, grow oregano, thyme, parsley, and sage. Grow also pots of rosemary and sweet bay in more space. Grow also chives, onion sets, and garlic cloves. Clip emerging foliage when it reaches a couple of inches high. In east- or west-facing windowsill, grow mints such as peppermint, spearmint, and lemon balm. Shear regularly. Do NOT grow indoors sweet basil, lemon verbena, summer savory, or tarragon.

Bruce and I loved it. It was a great combination.

  38. Shrimp Corn Chowder with Bacon made 10/3/18, with changes. First of all I did not have celery. I added onion because I did have onions. and also because to me chowder has must onion. I used frozen shrimp. I cooked chopped bacon, added thyme and boiling water, some chicken soup base, then cooked al dente chopped potato and carrots. When they were done I removed the vegetables and simmered frozen shrimp until done. I removed the shrimp and peeled off the shells, saving 3 shrimp whole. Served with a whole shrimp for garnish. I added milk and some cream; heated the chowder. I put Sriracha on mine.
  39. Slow Cooker Honey-Vanilla Multigrain Hot Cereal sweet w/ almond milk, coconut water, honey, oats, pearl barley, quinoa, and vanilla; made 9/26/18; good but prefer savory which I will make next
  40. Lobster Grilled Cheese with Avocado from Kylie Mazon-Chambers; Made Wednesday Sep 5, 2018 with ready-made lobster salad $$$. I over-browned (=burnt) the sandwich. But mainly, I did not like warm avocado in a sandwich. The avocado was perfect, but tasted too ripe. IMHO avocado should be served on side for lobster sandwich.
  41. Smoked Salmon Tacos with Strawberry and Avocado Salsa Made Fr 8/24/18. Added chopped skinned tomato to salsa; tomato should be seeded and drained. Also added sour cream plus chopped lettuce and spinach. I liked it very much. Did same w/ sauteed shrimp marinated in Adobo spice with lime juice and oil.
  42. Sweet and Saucy Turkey Meatballs with cranberry sauce, orange marmelade from It's Good for You by Pampered Chef p. 17 Made Tu, 8/21/18, with some ground pork added to the meatballs. Bruce liked the sweet sauce. I thought meatball was bland. I baked meatballs on broiler pan then transferred to white oven baker from France which meant a lot of dishwashing. I think it is easier to fry meatballs on stove.
  43. Grilled Steak and Potato Salad from It's Good for You pg. 49 by Pampered Chef made Sun, August 19, 2018. Broiled in oven w/ a mark-down rib eye, golden Yukon slices, and Sean's cherry tomatoes. I prefer pan-broiled steak. Potatoes and tomatoes were good.

  45. Chicken Parm Soup from State University of New York at Fredonia; made Wed, July 11, 2018. We liked it. Used stew tomatoes which worked fine. I added some cooked green beans, cut up. Because I was not going to eat most of the soup at once I added the pasta and green beans to the bowl before adding soup. I added some fresh minced basil and parsley too.

  52. No-sear Lamb or Beef and Chickpea Stew from Milk Street; made my own version Tu, 2/7/18, very changed. I used ground beef, mushrooms, cabbage, and green beans. I added fresh cilantro, dried thyme and a pinch of my newest spice, McCormick Sriracha Black Pepper Seasoning. I also added some homemade meatballs. It was a bit bland, but with a squirt of Sriracha it was pretty good.

Lee made this July 30, 2017 using marked-down sweet Italian chicken sausage, served with mango salsa. It could perhaps be easier to form meatballs if some breadcrumbs were added. It was tasty.
  64. Rice Krispie-coated Chicken Pieces w/ Stilton Sriracha Sauce from Perfect Plates in 5 Ingredients by John Whaite p. 55 Made this June 25, 2017. I did not like it very much. Probably my fault but it came out greasy. Also I prefer panko to Rice Krispies. I may try it again or else just eat the Rice Krispies for breakfast.
