In east- or west-facing windowsill, grow mints such as peppermint, spearmint, and lemon balm. Shear regularly. Do NOT grow indoors sweet basil, lemon verbena, summer savory, or tarragon.

- Skillet Penne with Chickpeas and Cauliflower from Dinner Illustrated ATK Made Friday, October 6, 2018. Easy. OK.
- Shrimp Corn Chowder with Bacon made 10/3/18, with changes. First of all I did not have celery. I added onion because I did have onions. and also because to me chowder has must onion. I used frozen shrimp. I cooked chopped bacon, added thyme and boiling water, some chicken soup base, then cooked al dente chopped potato and carrots. When they were done I removed the vegetables and simmered frozen shrimp until done. I removed the shrimp and peeled off the shells, saving 3 shrimp whole. Served with a whole shrimp for garnish. I added milk and some cream; heated the chowder. I put Sriracha on mine.
- Slow Cooker Honey-Vanilla Multigrain Hot Cereal sweet w/ almond milk, coconut water, honey, oats, pearl barley, quinoa, and vanilla; made 9/26/18; good but prefer savory which I will make next
- Lobster Grilled Cheese with Avocado from Kylie Mazon-Chambers; Made Wednesday Sep 5, 2018 with ready-made lobster salad $$$. I over-browned (=burnt) the sandwich. But mainly, I did not like warm avocado in a sandwich. The avocado was perfect, but tasted too ripe. IMHO avocado should be served on side for lobster sandwich.
- Smoked Salmon Tacos with Strawberry and Avocado Salsa Made Fr 8/24/18. Added chopped skinned tomato to salsa; tomato should be seeded and drained. Also added sour cream plus chopped lettuce and spinach. I liked it very much. Did same w/ sauteed shrimp marinated in Adobo spice with lime juice and oil.
- Sweet and Saucy Turkey Meatballs with cranberry sauce, orange marmelade from It's Good for You by Pampered Chef p. 17 Made Tu, 8/21/18, with some ground pork added to the meatballs. Bruce liked the sweet sauce. I thought meatball was bland. I baked meatballs on broiler pan then transferred to white oven baker from France which meant a lot of dishwashing. I think it is easier to fry meatballs on stove.
- Grilled Steak and Potato Salad from It's Good for You pg. 49 by Pampered Chef made Sun, August 19, 2018. Broiled in oven w/ a mark-down rib eye, golden Yukon slices, and Sean's cherry tomatoes. I prefer pan-broiled steak. Potatoes and tomatoes were good.
- Pan-Seared Scallops and Spinach from It's Good for You pg. 92 by Pampered Chef made Wed, August 15, 2018. Bruce prefers Matunuck version w/ sweet fig jam.
- Chicken Parm Soup from State University of New York at Fredonia; made Wed, July 11, 2018. We liked it. Used stew tomatoes which worked fine. I added some cooked green beans, cut up. Because I was not going to eat most of the soup at once I added the pasta and green beans to the bowl before adding soup. I added some fresh minced basil and parsley too.
- Ina Garten's Meatloaf made Fri, Jun 15, 2018. Good, not great. IMHO too much Worcestershire; too much onion for Bruce. See "Meatloaf" recipes.

made Sunday June 10, 2018 after watching the Blue Angels at the RI Air Show. I changed the spices and did not cook the chick peas so long. Found out that the chick peas would have been ok.
- Salmon Poached with Rye and Caper Breadcrumbs aromatic with gin and parsley; made with wild salmon Sunday, May 27, 2018; we liked it.
- Salmon Fillet with Lemon, Tarragon and Garlic Sauce made with wild salmon Saturday, April 28, 2018; loved the sauce; great leftovers
- Swedish Cocktail Meatballs (Sweden) fast; w/ Lipton's Onion Soup Mix, allspice, heavy cream, whole berry cranberry sauce. Made Friday, March 2, 2018. Bruce liked it a lot, especially the sauce. Bruce also liked "Farmstand Meatballs" that Maddie makes.
- No-sear Lamb or Beef and Chickpea Stew from Milk Street; made my own version Tu, 2/7/18, very changed. I used ground beef, mushrooms, cabbage, and green beans. I added fresh cilantro, dried thyme and a pinch of my newest spice, McCormick Sriracha Black Pepper Seasoning. I also added some homemade meatballs. It was a bit bland, but with a squirt of Sriracha it was pretty good.
- Blueberry Pancakes (for kids) made 1/21/18, but they were not fluffy :-(
- "Tomato and Lentil Soup" (outside link Google Books separate window) from Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease 1990 pg 484, made 1/17/18, with quite a few changes. - No Boil Crock Pot Mashed Potatoes made 12/18/17 in only 3 hours on HIGH (should take 4-5 hours at LOW). Alternately do Slow Cooker SLOW 3 hours.
- Italian Stuffed Meat Rolls in Mott's Clamato made 12/7/17 with boneless shoulder thin-sliced beef
- Beef Stroganoff in the Instant Pot in the Fagor or IP 6 minutes HIGH / QR with ground beef; made Monday, 10/9/17. The penne cooked perfectly in time allotted.
- Pressure Cooker Porcupine Meatballs 10 minutes at 15 psi in stove top; made Thu, 9/21/17; fast and easy. Needs more spices and liquid.
- Vegetable Quiche made this Mon 9/18/17 with 3 eggs, sauteed onion, steamed broccoli and spinach, and Gruyere cheese, in the large castiron pan. It was just a bit overdone. Would have preferred more vegetables, more cheese, and some herbs.
- Creamy Meatballs rich sauce flavored with white wine, Dijon mustard, and nutmeg; made these 9/14/17 with half beef and half pork. Bruce loves them.
- Pulled Pork in the Fagor with pork sirloin steaks 1 hour HIGH (9 psi) pressure
- Chuck Steak in the Instant Pot 7 - 15 minutes HIGH
- Turkey Meatballs with Cranberry from Ashley Singh Thomas, who cooks recipes from the Punjab and Kerala, India. Lee made this July 30, 2017 using marked-down sweet Italian chicken sausage, served with mango salsa. It could perhaps be easier to form meatballs if some breadcrumbs were added. It was tasty.
- Rice Krispie-coated Chicken Pieces w/ Stilton Sriracha Sauce from Perfect Plates in 5 Ingredients by John Whaite p. 55 Made this June 25, 2017. I did not like it very much. Probably my fault but it came out greasy. Also I prefer panko to Rice Krispies. I may try it again or else just eat the Rice Krispies for breakfast.
- Mulligatawny Soup with Lentils made February 9, 2017. Bruce, plus Sean and Marion,liked it.
- Cilantro Lime Salmon from Kevin Lynch, made Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Paul Lowe's "Lemon & Chili Marinated Salmon Fillet" Summer Food p. 148. February 4, 2017 I used the same marinade for "scampi" large shrimp under the broiler.
- Mustard Salmon with Cabbage and Potatoes from One Pot: 120+ Easy Meals from Your Skillet, Slow Cooker, Stockpot, and More by Martha Stewart 167. Made Tuesday, October 17, 2016, the day Sean, Marion and Thomas came back from Germany. Salmon is coated with horseradish, grainy mustard and lemon zest. Everyone liked it.
- Lee's Scallion Spinach Frittata in the Bella Electric Stone Pizza Oven, created on Saturday, 9/17/16. It came out great; cooked up fast.
- Spaghetti with Seafood (Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare) with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, garlic, white wine, herbs and Olio Verde al Limone; made this without the $35. 1/2 liter olive oil; instead I drizzled with regular Extra-virgin Olive Oil + some fresh lemon; it was good 8/26/16. Love the method of cooking spaghetti until almost al dente and finishing in the sauce a la Lidia.
- Vitamix Pizza they say "so easy with the Vitamix and the grain jar", but I did not do well when I made this August 2016; what did come out great was the topping of the Nectarine Goat Cheese Pizza Salad of nectarines, goat cheese, prosciutto, and greens
- Taco Soup in the Crock Pot w/ ground beef, chicken broth, fire-roasted diced tomatoes; w/ pan-seared flour tortillas and shredded pepper-jack cheese 6/23/16
- Healthy Italian Wedding Soup with meatballs, spinach, shredded carrots; 2/1/16 - needs more flavor and needs salt in meatballs
- French Fish Pie made 12/29/15 with sour cream and panko; temp too high;
- No Knead Bread from Jim Lahey easy in a Dutch oven w/ flour, water, salt, instant yeast and 18 -24 hours; made 12/27/15; successful exc super hot oven is bad for LeCreuset pot
- Dilly Haddock with cucumber dill yogurt sauce; made 11/27/15
- Pork Chops and Potatoes in the Fagor at LOW (5 psi) pressure, for 20 minutes; made 11/7/15. Bruce liked it a lot.
- Clams with Linguiça, Tomatoes and Cream on Linguine or with Italian sausage and cream; made 8/7/15 with linguiça, frozen mixed seafood, cream, fresh tarragon, thyme, and some quahog juice. Bruce did not like it. I did.
- Sista Felicia's Haddock Chowder 5/15/15, creamy version with half n half and evaporated milk; bland; by Sicilian cook Felicia Ciaramitaro of Gloucester, Massachusetts
- Cynthia's Brisket Houston Style in Oven 4/16/15, and umpteen times before; with soy sauce and barbecue sauce at 200 F, for as long as it takes; EXCELLENT, EASY (note: BJ's $8/lb 3 lbs)
- Almond-crusted Chicken; made 4/14/15, exellent. Will make again with cod or halibut.

- Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Garlic in a cast-iron frying pan from Mark Bittman; made 1/3/15, but I burnt them. Will try again
- Fish Fillets with Tomatoes, Squash, and Basil baked in parchment paper; Maddie made this March 2014. Bruce and I both loved it. It is now a regular for us.
Chicken Tortilla Soup II Houston style using Rotel tomatoes and Taco Seasoning; I made this 1/13/14 and it was very good. It would have been even better with homemade chicken broth.
- Healthy Potato Soup garnished with tomatoes, spinach, scallion, cheddar cheese and more; I made this 1/13/14
- Tuna and Anchovies over Capellini from Cento Fine Foods made 1/12/14. Used white tuna in oil, no anchovies, and added some olives. Good but will make more authentic version.
- Winse's Tofu, Beansprouts and Noodles Soup and Lee's Beansprout and Noodles Soup both inspired by Sweet & Sour Bean Curd from Wok & Stir Fry, page 192
- Mussels with Pasta in the Fagor Electric Multi-Cooker made June 30, 2013, with Dianne. This recipe needs tweaking because pasta was not done enough. This idea is very convenient; just one pot. I tried it with Little Necks too. See my notes at the recipe site.

- Cream of Cauliflower Soup made Thu May 29, 2008, using chicken broth and the trimmings of asparagus and the cauliflower, pressure cooked, then pureed in the Vitamix.
- *Seared Scallops with Cauliflower, Capers and Raisins We had this Sun 4/15/07 in Newport during my vacation. We both liked it.
- *Crème Brulée Bonjour made 4/17/07 brulee torch would not stay on ;-( but creme was good. I made it a second time using 2 creme brulee machines and it was really good. This time the machines stayed on. I may someday get a blow torch from Home Depot.
- Bistro Chicken Roll-Ups by Chef Melissa. Made 4/17/07 for Dukie (RIP), Mary, and Dianne. It was just ok.
